FOR RESCUES: My organization would like to apply for a grant. Do you have to be a 501(c)(3) organization? 
Yes, applicants must be incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization.
In complying with Federal regulations we are unable to make donations to individuals, non-U.S. charities, or for-profit organizations.  

How often can a rescue group apply for a grant? 
Currently grants to most rescue groups are about $3,000.
We understand that treatment costs may vary, depending on the situation, so if one dogs medical bills costs less that $3000 you may apply another time during the year for a different dog.

A new application must be completed for each dog. We must have the supporting documents for each request.

How long does the grant application process take? 
If everything in your grant application is in order, and depending upon the timing of your submission, the process can take anywhere from 24-72 hours. A.L.I.T.E. will notify your organization as quickly as we are able.

What types of medical care does A.L.I.T.E.  generally fund? 
In general we fund “Non basic/Non emergency care”.
This may include care or testing related to heart, ear, dental and orthopedic diseases and other medical issues that may not have been addressed by the former custodian of the dog. We do not generally fund “Basic Care: vaccines, spay/neuters etc) or “Emergency Care” where an undiagnosed emergency presents, with an unknown outcome.

What is the process for getting funds?
If your grant application is approved in whole or in part, we will contact you in writing, indicating our commitment to reimburse your rescue for the approved amount of the grant application. The payment will be sent to your rescue once we have received a copy of the veterinary bill, after the veterinary care or treatment is complete.
Please be aware that the address the check will be sent to will be the address listed on your IRS 501c3 approval letter. Please check your IRS letter before attaching it to the applications because we are unable to send checks to any other addresses

What happens after we get a grant?
Pay it forward! So that we can continue to grow our work and give opportunities to other rescues and hopefully in the future give larger grants, we ask you to help us spread the word about ALITE . It would be great to see a social media post, tagging us, sharing information and updates about the dog that we worked together to help. We promise to do the same for you, sharing information about your good work. Together, we can take small steps to improve their lives, one dog at a time!

Are we able to apply for a grant if we are located outside SE Pennsylvania? 
At this time we are focused on helping dogs coming from commercial breeders (licensed or unlicensed) that are located in Southeastern PA.

A.L.I.T.E. FUND was created to help Non-Profit Animal Rescues and Shelters and is not able to help individual dog owners with pet care, however there are organizations that do help dog owners. Please check out the following information.
